Acrylic artificial stone differs from conventional artificial stone in several aspects, as detailed below:

教育环境 05

In terms of raw materials

Ordinary artificial stone uses crushed natural marble or granite as the filler, with cement, gypsum, and unsaturated polyester resin as the bonding agents, forming a composite material through physical mixing and chemical curing. Composite acrylic artificial stone, on the other hand, employs high-quality unsaturated resin and MMA-modified resin as the matrix, combined with mineral fillers, achieving molecular-level bonding through specialized polymerization processes. The core difference lies in the choice of matrix material: ordinary artificial stone relies on a hybrid system of inorganic cementitious materials (cement/gypsum) and organic resins, while acrylic artificial stone primarily features a pure organic resin system, with the addition of MMA-modified resin significantly enhancing the material's weather resistance and transparency.

In terms of manufacturing process

Ordinary artificial stone follows the traditional terrazzo production process, using cement as the binder and sand and gravel as aggregates, and is manufactured through steps such as batching, mixing, high-pressure steam curing, grinding, and polishing. The forming process relies on physical pressure and chemical hydration reactions. Acrylic artificial stone employs a fully organic polymerization process: from formula design to particle preparation, achieving uniform distribution of material molecular structures through precise color matching, vacuum degassing, mold forming, and high-temperature baking. The process differences result in acrylic artificial stone having higher density uniformity and surface smoothness, while ordinary artificial stone tends to develop microporous structures due to the presence of a cement matrix.

In terms of advantages and disadvantages

Common artificial stone boasts advantages such as scratch resistance, high-temperature tolerance, cost-effectiveness, color consistency, and oxidation-resistant fading. Its inorganic-organic composite structure endows the material with a natural texture and antibacterial properties, though it demands higher machining precision and may show visible seams at joints. Acrylic artificial stone, on the other hand, features non-toxicity, radiation-free properties, flame retardancy, mildew resistance, wear resistance, impact resistance, and seamless bonding. The MMA resin matrix grants it excellent acid and alkali resistance along with easy cleaning, making it particularly suitable for high-frequency usage scenarios like kitchen countertops. The core performance differences lie in: common artificial stone focusing on practicality and cost advantages, while acrylic artificial stone emphasizes environmental friendliness and aesthetic appeal.
